With Acttiv you can get an entertainment job in 3,4 and 5 star hotels during all the seasons of the year. -In the winter season there are jobs on the Canary Islands (Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura) -In the summer season you can get a job on the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands and the Spanish mainland.
You will have a Spanish Labour contract (fijo discontinuo which is an open contract with a two week notice to quit) that you will sign upon arrival. Before deciding to work with Acttiv you can ask a copy of your contract by e-mail so you can read through it. Acttiv will also provide you with phonenumbers from official institutions in your home country to check references from Acttiv.
Because you have a Spanish Labour contract, you will be insured by the Spanish Social Security. This means that you are insured for illness and accidents. You can visit doctors, clinics and hospitals indicated by the Spanish Social Security. Every employee of Acttiv also gets a Third Party Insurance (Civil Response).
The entertainers of Acttiv live in shared apartments or hotel rooms in or nearby the hotel. There are diferent standards so it depends on your destination. It is not necessary to take bed-clothes with you. Before coming to Spain you will get sufficient information about your sleeping place so you will not get any negative surprises.
You will get 3 meals a day. Breakfast and dinner usually are buffets in the restaurant(same food as the clients). For lunch you normally eat in the canteen of the hotel staff. In most hotels you are entitled to a certain amount of free drinks (except alcoholic drinks which, anyhow, you are not allowed to take during working hours).
Entertainers with experience will get up to 100 Euros from there flight back after having worked 6 months with Acttiv. The candidates without experience are not entitled to this flight money.
In your local jobcentre you can ask for information about Acttiv. We have very intensive and good relations with all Eures advisors in different countries. You can ask the Human Resources Department of Acttiv for phone numbers.
You will have to take normal summer clothes with you (although in the winter on the Canary Islands it can be a bit cold). It is important that you bring sportsclothes (in good shape and no other colours then black, white or blue) In the evening you are not allowed to work in jeans and sportshoes so you have to take some elegant clothes with you for the evening. Most entertainers will receive a basic Acttiv uniform. Some entertainers will receive Hotel uniforms.
This is not a long holiday! What you will do after working hours is a private matter but during working hours you are earning a salary, social security, food and lodging. This means that you will have to work according to high standards. If you do not behave in a professional way you can loose your job, just as in any other job.
