DESTINATION: THE CANARY ISLANDS

Work as tourist entertainer on the Canary Islands

Work year-round as a tourist entertainer in the Canary Islands. On the Canary Islands, it is always Spring. Average temperatures stay between 18 and 29 degrees, so travellers from around the world come year-round in search of a pleasant swim, even in mid-winter.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Tourist entertainment staff swells between the months of May and October, but the demand for tourist entertainers is constant of the islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

Look for entertainment employment opportunities on these four islands at chains such as IFA Lopesan, Hotasa Hotels, Hotels Dunas or H10 Hotels. And if you feel more than a little interested, visit some of the websites for these incredible hotels where these possibilities are available, like Lopesan BaoBab or Lopesan Costa Meloneras.

While true, you never know where you will most enjoy the role as tourist entertainer, we guarantee you that a three star hotel, like the Hotel H10 Lanzarote Gardens, is one of the establishments where the staff is the most involved and greatly enjoys the work that goes into putting together creative night time entertainment.

TOURIST ENTERTAINMENT COURSES

Acttiv (the tourist entertainment company that manages the Animajobs.es website) gives initiation courses in tourist entertainment throughout the year of the island of Lanzarote. Each year, around ten month-long training sessions are scheduled, that combine theoretical content with practical application activities. You can look for the upcoming dates in the Courses section.

A complete list of topics includes, among other things, classes in Public Relations, in the structure of a hotel and in managing children’s programs, as well as learning to use a microphone and, always accompanied by a mentor, the art of the Mini-disco, or children’s dance sessions, and sports activities. As a final course project, students get up on stage and create a final show. To prepare for which, they must learn choreography, character techniques, wardrobe and theatrical decoration.

The groups, made up of between 10 to 12 students, stay at a three star hotel in Costa Teguise, which allows them to get to know various tourist establishments in the area. Upon its conclusion, all students who satisfactorily complete the course are incorporated into one of the entertainment staffs in the Canary Islands.
