EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The seasonality of tourism on the Spanish coast means that entertainment staff is only needed between the months of April and October.
On Animajobs, you will find employment opportunities to work along the entire peninsula coastline: Catalonia, Valencia, Murcia and Andalusia. Large Resorts like Hotel Oasis Islantilla, Resort Sahara Sunset Club and Barceló Punta Umbría Beach Resort trust Acttiv for their entertainment staff (the tourist entertainment company that manages the Animajobs.es website).
In Catatonia, in addition to hotels, opportunities can be found at campgrounds like Delfín Verde or Torre de la Mora. To work as an entertainer at a campground is much different than working at a hotel and in many instances, the experience can be very rewarding. Guests participate more actively and stronger bonds are formed as their stays tend to be longer and there generally tends to be more repeat visitors to the campgrounds. Thus creativity is more important, to develop a greater variety of activities, many of them related to the natural surrounding found at that location.
The entertainment staff is made up of young people from all over the European Union and speaking fluent English or another second language is usually an obligatory condition for employment. Although occasionally, the peninsula coastline has hotels where their clientele is primarily Spanish and a second language is not required in order to enter into the selection process.
TOURIST ENTERTAINMENT COURSES
Acttiv gives courses in tourist entertainment along the peninsula coastline during the months of April and May in order to put together a staff that is better prepared to meet the entertainment needs of the hotel guests.
There are two types of courses given in Catalonia, Levante and Andalusia. On one hand, there are initiation courses in tourist entertainment and on the other, courses that are coordinated with certain hotels or chains to allow the students to get to know the customs of that establishment, its internal organization and a profile of its clientele.
The goal of these courses is for all of the participants to be hired at the end to one of the entertainment staffs. These courses generally last from a week to ten days with no more than 15 students per group. It must be said that many of these courses are the only given in Spanish given that it is more customary in the Balearic and Canary islands to give them in English.
Starting in January and February, you can look to see what courses are scheduled for Catalonia, Valencia, Murcia and Andalusia under the Courses section.
